Carver-Washington STEAM Magnet Elementary School, 2600 S. Main, LR 72206, needs help putting in a pollinator garden in the school courtyard. The space is overgrown, has tree limbs to cut back, poison ivy to be gotten rid of, weeds, and so on. They want to clean up the space and plant native Arkansas plants that are pollinator friendly, etc. The school has their gifted and talented students and their gardening club working on the space, but they could use some help from CAMN, and likely some supportive education on native plants.
What CAMN needs is someone to be the project lead for this, which means someone to assemble a CAMN team of volunteers and work with the liaisons at the school to establish work times and help them implement their plan. We don't have a lot of details yet, but this kind of thing is right up CAMN's alley. If you think this might be a project you would like to lead (or co-lead!), or even if you are interested in getting more information from the school and seeing what they are planning, please contact anneholcomb@sbcglobal.net 501-626-6677 by noon on Friday, October 17. |
