Subject: Pollinator Garden at SJCA to be dismantled - CAMN help requested
From: Anne Holcomb

The following message is from Ruth Landers:

I have received the news from the Diocese that the Pollinator Garden must be dismantled. Though it was protected during demolition, the new architectural plans do not allow this space to be dedicated to nature. As you can imagine, we are deeply saddened to lose this pollinator space as I know many of you will share in this loss. It has been enjoyed by so many and most importantly, by the diversity of pollinators that seek food and shelter there.

The Master Gardeners plan to transplant all the shrubs and a collection of each species of herbaceous perennials and grasses to Baring Cross Community Garden a few miles away to overwinter and protect them for a future pollinator garden when the St. Joseph's Center of Arkansas establishes a new home after January 31st. We recognize all the vision, hard work and fellowship that has been shared in this special place and we want to do everything we can to ensure it has a future elsewhere in our local community.

We are planning to accomplish this on Thursday mornings 10/30 and 11/06/25 from 0900-1200. If any Master Naturalists are free to help remove plants and transplant, we would really appreciate the help. We are a small group so the more hands to accomplish this daunting task the better!

Sincerely,

Ruth Landers
