Magnolia Mommas and Fire Ecology

We will be going back to Walnut Creek to see the Magnolia Mommas, the Slippers and the flora around Indian Memorial Creek. We will see first-hand the effects of fire on the ecosystem. The hikes on both days will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will take 3 to 4 hours. We will meet at the low water bridge on Forest Service road 47. See the directions below. In terms of difficulty, this hike is “moderate PLUS”. We will be crossing several creeks so wear appropriate footwear (or bring extra socks). You will also need to bring along water, a snack or light lunch, a walking stick, and insect repellent.
