FAMN Seed Cleaning Party for the CRSUA Native Wildflower/Prairie Project.

Where? Robert Fuhler’s House – 29 Ridgeview Drive, Conway (correctly located on Google Earth).

What to bring? Yourself, guests, a shareable snack (not required to attend – I will have some of my daughter’s home-made cookies, banana bread, and a vegetable tray on hand), any drink you may be partial to other than water (which I will also have on-hand).

Larry Price has been leading forays out to the Camp Robinson Special Use Area (CRSUA) since late spring to acquire seeds for a 1.7 acre Wildflower/Prairie restoration at the northwest corner of the intersection of Nursery Pond and Clinton Roads. Although the seed collection will go into the latter part of the Fall, there are approximately two dozen species already collected that require processing. Most species require container shaking and screening (which is noisy and oddly therapeutic) and others (such as Monarda fistulosa – Bee Balm or Wild Bergamot) are a bit more finicky and our skills as amateur barbers will need
to be employed for shearing prior to collecting the tiny seeds. Of course, Larry will be on hand to show everyone the details on these processing techniques.

Activities will be both indoors and out; rain should not present a problem.

Anyway, please mark your calendars and make plans to attend! Looking forward to seeing you all!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email or at 501.733.4019
