CAMN General Meeting - In-person and Zoom: Water Conservation Issues
About this event
Kenny Jones, AGFC Stream Team Coordinator, Stream Continuum Concept and Aquatic Ecology, Conservation Issues in Arkansas, and Microplastics. Kenny Provided this Bio: My name is Kenny Jones and I was born and raised in the delta areas of Arkansas and Mississippi. Growing up, we lived about 1 mile from the Mississippi River, and we fished and swam the river and its oxbows just about every day during the summer. I graduated from Cleveland High School in Cleveland, Mississippi, and graduated with my B.S. from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. After graduating from Arkansas State, I went on to get my M.S. from the University of West Alabama. While attending the University of West Alabama, I spent two weeks sampling Lake Baikal and its tributaries in remote Siberia, and I worked on a thesis studying the conservation genomics and environmental DNA applicability for the imperiled Coal Darter (Percina brevicauda). After completing my thesis I worked for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources as a Stream Survey Technician, and then went on to teach high school in Horn Lake, Mississippi. I applied for the Stream Habitat Coordinator position for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and when I got the job it was truly a dream come true. My passions and interests are college football, basketball, baseball, cooking, conservation biology, environmental science, population genetics, evolution, ecology, and education/outreach. Approved for 2 hours CE, sponsor CAMN.
