Our Work

Our work:

•Maintaining trails at state parks and other natural areas.

•Test water quality in rivers and lakes.

•Volunteer and assist with educational programs.

•Build and monitor nesting boxes.

•Plant and maintain native plan beds at various state parks.

•Lead the effort to re-establish milkweed habitat for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators.

•Coordinate citizen science efforts such as Frog Watch and bird counts.

•Support all special events of the various state parks as needed.

Chapter members serve as liaisons with the interpreters and other park staff members to ensure that volunteers are available when needed. Members coordinate activities with AGFC staff and with other organizations that are committed to conservation and education.

Join Us

Training is provided by the NEAMN chapter and may be completed by independent study. All training will be guided by a mentor. New members may submit an application and begin training at any time during the year. Training topics include archaeology, botany, ecology, geology, herpetology, ichthyology, mammalogy, ornithology, and aquatic ecology.

To become a Master Naturalist, you must:

Be 18 years of age.
Submit an application and training fee of $100.
Complete a minimum of 40 hours of the training provided.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources, natural areas, archaeological assets, and historical sites across northeast Arkansas.

We Serve

The Northeast Arkansas Chapter was established 2012.

Chapter members serve as volunteers in the parks and natural areas in the delta region, along Crowley’s Ridge, and in the area west of Crowley’s Ridge.

Our parks include Davidsonville Historic State Park, Crowley’s Ridge State Park, Lake Frierson State Park, Lake Charles State Park, Powhatan Historic State Park, Lake Poinsett State Park, Jacksonport Historic State Park, Hampson Museum, Parkin Archaeological State Park, Village Creek State Park, Mississippi River State Park, Delta Heritage Trail State Park, and the Forrest L. Wood Nature Center.
