FAMN - NEW YEARS DAY HIKE - WOOLLEY HOLLOW SP
About this event
Covid is waning and it's time to get back to the business at hand.
FAMN is going to reinstate one of its traditions with a New Years Day hike at Woolly Hollow State Park, January 1rst at 2:30pm. We will be hiking the Huckleberry Trail. This is a 3.5 mile trail rated easy to moderate and takes about 1.5 hours to walk. There are several cutoffs and short loops for those that choose to do only a portion of the total trail.
If we have any precipitation before New Years, we might get a spectacular viewing of the waterfall behind the dam of Lake Bennett. In the case of inclement weather, we will cancel the hike and send out notice by email.
We will meet at the parking lot of the park office (Google Maps Coordinates: 35.287878,-92.289124 *copy and paste coordinates only into Google Maps Search Box) and proceed to the trailhead from there.
For those that may wish to do only a portion of the trail or would like to bypass the more difficult terrain of the last half of the hike, we can arrange for a few cars to park close to the dam where the trail crosses the road close to the entrance.
Participation is voluntary but it is a fun social event and a great way to start off a Naturalist year!
