About this event
This presentation is about the geology of Arkansas with emphasis on the Ouachita Mountains Province. Our instructor will present a summarized version of the geology of each physiographic province in Arkansas. The afternoon portion of the class wiill be a Geologic float that will concentrate on interesting geologic features in the core of the Ouachitas that are accessible from beautiful Lake Ouachita. This is a facinating class that you do not want to miss.
PLEASE NOTE: Register EARLY. Class size is limited because of the number of people that are allowed on the barge for the geologic float on the lake. If you need to cancel, please do so as soon as possible to free up your slot.
Our instructor is Angela Chandler. Angela has worked at the Arkansas Geologic Survey for 26 years. She is currently the Assistant State Geologist. She provides oversight for grants and other projects at the Survey. She hopes to push the Survey forward in providing the best data available for all users in the state. She also continues to learn as much about the geology of Arkansas and promoting it to anyone interested. Since her main passion is field mapping, particularly in the Ozarks, she tries to get to the field any chance she can. She happily continues to lead teacher workshops and give presentations to the public when possible. She also identifies rocks and fossils for the public.
