WHERE:

Meet at Bluffton House 35.652746, -92.527426 (Cut and paste coordinates into search box in Google Earth) The Bluffton House is down a driveway across from the Double-Drop Falls Trailhead at Bluffton Nature Preserve.

About 6.0 miles north of the Hwy 65/09 intersection in Clinton on Hwy 65, take County Road 79/Watergate Road (600 feet north and across from Botkinburg Foursquare Church – Correctly located on Google). Keep right at both forks until reaching the Double-Drop Falls trailhead – take the road across from the trailhead past a dilapidated house to the parking lot of Bluffton House.

OBJECTIVES AND DETAILS:

AM: Informal presentation on Trail Maintenance. This will cover trail tools usage, upkeep and safety, trail surveys and preparation, commonly encountered problems on trails and mitigation. Please watch Building Bluffton prior to the class on Saturday.

LUNCH (Sack Lunch – bring your own).

AFTERNOON: A short hike on the Bluffline Trail to Prickly Pear Campsite will be conducted, followed by a visit to a few of the in-progress Native Project planting Areas by the Archey Fork.

Keep in mind that the georeferenced map of Bluffton is available for download on the Nature Conservancy site (https://www.nature.org/content/dam/tnc/nature/en/graphics/maps/AR-Bluffton-Preserve-Map.pdf) and can be used on a smart device with the Avenza map app. The georeferenced map combined with the app will allow you to see your location while on the trail using the GPS on your phone (you will need to download the Avenza app). The trail is also on Alltrails.
