DLAMN - Dripping Springs Hike

About this event

Once again, Dr. John Simpson, with the assistance of Belinda Jonak, will be conducting a plant ID hike to Dripping Springs. Hopefully we will encounter some of Arkansas’s native wild flowers in bloom along Wildcat Road. We will hike to Dripping Springs and the shore of beautiful Lake Rix, where we will stop for rest, snacks, and a chance to enjoy nature.
On March 29 we will meet at the cold-water spring on Whittington Ave. at 9am to caravan or meet at the trailhead at the end of Wildcat Rd. about 9:15. Ignore any signs about trespassing or private road. It’s a county road. Drive till you reach the end. We will return to the trailhead about noon. You will want to bring water, a snack, and insect repellant. We will not be bushwhacking, but you will need to wear your hiking boots. We will cross a stream, but there will be plenty of help to navigate it. If the weather is not favorable, we may reschedule for the following Saturday. The hours will count towards NIT training or continuing ed for NATS.
