About this event
Join Park Interpreter Andrea and special guest Dustin Kohler for a guided birdwatching hike at Mount Nebo State Park! Mount Nebo is home to many migratory songbirds throughout the summer, and the variety of habitats on the mountain provides opportunities to see a wide diversity of species.
Dustin Kohler is a graduate student at Arkansas Tech University. He is partnering with Andrea, Mount Nebo's park interpreter, to share his knowledge of birds and love of birdwatching.
This moderate hike is 1.5 miles long, with some sections covering rocky terrain. Remember to dress appropriately and bring water. A limited number of binoculars and field guides will be provided, but feel free to bring any of your own birding equipment!
We will be meeting at the Gum Springs/Waterfall trailhead. When you reach the stop sign at the top of the mountain, turn left. At the next stop sign, turn right. Continue around Sunrise Circle ~0.5 miles, and the gravel parking lot for the trailhead will be on your right. Signs indicating the direction of the Gum Springs/Waterfall trailhead will point you the right way.
This activity will count toward education hours.
