Come join us in exploring the Cove Creek Natural area. This is an Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission property located just north of Wooster.

The relatively short trail we’ll hike is a 1.5 mile loop and rated Easy, with little elevation gain.
It will bring us through a cedar glade and some upland hardwood forested areas, as well as some nice bluff views on the portion that follows along Cove Creek.

In addition to the hike, our objective will be to do some trash pickup as well as assessing the area as a whole to see what other needs there may be (e.g. trail maintenance, invasives management, etc). We can also see a couple bridges that were built by some early FAMN members a number of years ago.

We had submitted a formal volunteer/area adoption inquiry to ANHC, but learned from Dustin Lynch that the absence of a response is due to some resource limitations in their organization that he suspects will be addressed in the near future.

Based on past visits, I imagine that the trash pickup needs will be minimal, but feel free to bring along some grabbers if you are so inclined. I’ll bring some trash bags.
