Boom Blast is this Saturday, June 14, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Bring your watercraft if you can. CAMN's canoe fleet will also be on site. The upstream boom is full again in just one month. We opened it up at the end of the last Boom Blast, and I hooked it back up the following Monday. Ugh! Photos below.
Also, we need some shoreline beautification work done. We need weed whackers and brush cutters, limb loppers, pole saws, chain saws, too, to remove vegetation and open up the shoreline on both sides of the boat ramp so folks can see the creek. Same with Interstate Park's boat ramp area, except for pole saws and limb loppers.
I'll need someone to take the lead on the riparian work; I'll be in the jonboat working with the trash.
We'll need to do the same at Interstate Park, at another time.
Also, (KLRB, FoFC, and CAMN) will be organizing special float trips at Interstate Park, paddling up a few miles and floating back, for:
- Downtown LR Partnership
- LR Regional Chamber of Commerce
- LRCVB
- Metroplan
- Judge Barry Hyde
and some other high-level people interested and involved in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism, especially since the Southwest Trail will be passing through our unique Urban Wetlands (Fourche Bottoms) that will soon become one of the largest city parks in the country.
Thanks,
Reed
