Subject: Project lead(s) needed for the Museum of Discovery's Tinkerfest
From: Anne Holcomb

The Museum of Discovery is looking forward to hosting their annual Tinkerfest on Saturday, September 13 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm near the museum in downtown Little Rock. This event is focused on hands-on interaction of materials and tools, all the while engaging in explorative play.

They have extended an invitation to CAMN to participate this year. Tinkerfest is a major event that draws over two thousand guests. CAMN is seen and valued as a group that can help toward this effort.

For a visual of what this event is all about, check out the Museum's Tinkerfest video.

CAMN's participation depends entirely on finding a project lead to make it happen - preferably TWO co-leaders, because it can be kind of involved to come up with and carry out a very hands-on, STEM-based exhibit.  We need something a variety of ages can participate in.  There are a lot of free and/or inexpensive resources we could brainstorm about but they all require adequate prepping, supplies, and organization.  Think making clouds in a jar, helping kids learn about seed dispersal by wind with making different shaped seeds from craft supplies and trying them out, maybe examples of Fibonacci principles in nature....maybe something else entirely!

If YOU are interested in being a project lead on this, or if two of you want to co-lead, please let Anne Holcomb anneholcomb@sbcglobal.net know before July 31. You'll need time to get things planned out and supplies gathered, plus round up volunteers to help staff the booth/exhibit, and the Museum of Discovery needs to know how many exhibit spaces to allow for.  Involvement in this kind of thing is a great way to earn volunteer hours while helping educate tomorrow's master naturalists!
