Reed Green is teaching Limnology at UALR again this Fall semester, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm, Saturday lab, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Limnology is the study of the physical, chemical, and biological functions and interactions in freshwater systems as opposed to marine systems.
Senior citizens can register tuition-free (only have to pay the registration fee) starting August 19 - 26, if seats are available. There will be seats available. He asked for a maximum of 15, but they opened it up to 25. Hardly any students are registered at this time.
There are no exams, only weekly "Reflective Essays" covering the textbook content covered in the textbook and "lab" experiences from that week. For Saturday labs, we travel to various streams, lakes (reservoirs), ponds, wetlands, etc., in and around Little Rock, examining and learning about the different physical, chemical, and biological features and functions within each. Student attendance is recorded as part of their grade.
Reed says, "Bob Pitts sat in my Surface Water Hydrology class that I led a few years back, following the departure of the Geology Department's Hydrologist. Bob loved it and wrote some of the best reflective essays; he was into it! We miss Bob!"
Just throwing it out there.
Thanks,
Reed Green
