Neighborhood Watch Program - Forest Service Rd 47, USFS

Saturday, May 30th, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00ish p.m. Please plan on arriving early. There will be coffee, donuts and fellowship starting at 8:30.

Church Arbor Pavilion, Forest Service Rd 47 and Crystal Springs Recreation Area

Come and meet the neighbors of Forest Service Rd 47! The Forest Service Rd 47 Neighborhood Watch Program is comprised of the Mosses (Bryophytes), Ferns (Pteridophytes), Seed Plants (Spermatophytes), and Fungi. The morning class will take a look at the individual characteristics of each group, their community relationships, and the communications network connecting the neighborhood. The afternoon session will be a “MEET AND GREET” with the neighbors. There are an amazing number of mosses, ferns, seed plants, and fungi in this area. We’ll learn their names and listen to their stories.
Important Information:
· This class is weather dependent.
· The pavilion has wood bench seating. You should consider bringing a cushion to sit on.
· Bring a sack lunch/snack, water, and insect repellant.
· The after lunch session will be in and around the area of the Pavilion. All the neighbors will be there!
Prerequisite:
All registrants will be required to COMPLETE AND RECORD 15 hours of volunteer time prior to May 30th. To count as volunteer time for this class, the activity can be any activity that promotes “Who We Are as Arkansas Master Naturalist”- Educated Volunteers, Volunteer Educators, Stewards of Nature, and Advocates for the Natural Beauty of Arkansas.
Note: NiTs are exempt from the prerequisite
Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 270 West and the Mountain Pine Rd, travel west on Hwy 270 for 13 miles, turn right onto North Crystal Springs Rd for 1.8 miles, the Church Arbor is on your left just 50 yards past the intersection with Forest Service Rd 47 (Hickorynut Mt. Rd).
