Hello, all!
What an incredible summer it has been, though I cannot deny I am ready for cooler weather. I am one of those people who is perpetually cold and even I have had enough.

You may remember that last month I was thrilled to have Snowberry Clearwing caterpillars on my Coral Honeysuckle. Well, there are now a lot of fat caterpillars all ready for winter courtesy of that native planting! So let’s amend last month’s sentiment: If you build it, they will come, and they will EAT. There is no word for my vine other than denuded. Gardening for wildlife is an adventure. My apologies to anyone I promised cuttings to!

And now, the nitty gritty:
The time for NWAMN’s monthly Board of Directors meeting draws nigh!
There are a couple of items on the agenda beyond the usual, and I think this could be a really good one to attend if you’ve been waiting for just the right moment.

Here’s the Zoom link. I hope you’ll join us. And don’t forget to log your CE hours if you attend! The Activity is Continued Education and the Sponsor is NWAMN.

Topic: NWAMN 2025 Board

Also of interest!

  • We have a chapter meeting this month on the 21st. Watch your email for more details!

  • I just got an email about WCRC’s upcoming Invasive Plant Removal Workshop. It’s on Friday, September 19th from 8:30 to 4:40 pm, and there are a few slots left. I cannot overstate how valuable this workshop is, and it’s FREE.
Here’s the link to sign up: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSemPQiJtjJskvhjL8H4rgQCaD1js3R08otEaXn6K9kOwO95Kg/viewform?usp=send_form

  • Beaver Lake Day is coming up! It’s on September 27th at Hickory Creek. NWAMN will have a booth there, and it’s generally a great event with lots of community participation. Here’s the event on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/1AyQEfXyCq/

  • Last, and most exciting, if you did not see Care Butler’s recent email about our upcoming Wizard of Hobbs program, check your inbox and your spam folder! WoH is this year’s version of Living Forest, our annual event at the Hobbs' visitors center. It’s going to be amazing, and I hope you’ll consider helping as a character, backstage helper, costume creator… there’s a place for your talents here, and we need your skills!
