Subject: Volunteers needed for redoing native plant beds at ANHC/Dept of Heritage
From: Anne Holcomb

This project from the Dept of Heritage and ANHC needs CAMN volunteers to assist Project Lead Jodi Morris mjodimorris@gmail.com  TEXT:  501 813-7775

The location is 1100 North St. LR AR 72201.

The work involves the four brick planters/raised beds behind the main building, bordering the employee/volunteer/visitor parking lot and entrance on back side of building.

Two beds are overseen by the Dept of Heritage, two are overseen by ANHC.

All four need to be cleaned out and prepped to start again. ANHC Botanist Ben Benton will have marked the plants needing to be kept. Everything that is unmarked will need to be totally removed, roots and all.  Volunteers are welcome to take home anything that isn’t marked to be kept. The powers that be still seem to think putting down weed barrier is required; we think otherwise, but it may be something we have to help do.If time allows, ANHC would like for the plants they are keeping to be transplanted in a more aesthetic arrangement, but they will defer to the judgment of the volunteers on whether that's what should be done. Once everything is in its final place, it gets topped with mulch.

You do not have to have a lot of experience to help with this, just a willingness to learn and an appreciation for native plants.

The dates that work best for the Dept of Heritage/ANHC are mornings - 9a-11a

Monday 9/8
Friday  9/12
