NWAMN - Clabber Creek Invasive Plant Removal
About this event
It is time for a spring cleaning to Clabber Creek. The City, the Illinois River Watershed Partnership, Urban Forestry Advisory Board and many local neighbors will be meeting up to remove invasive plants and pick up litter.
Clabber Creek is an important corridor for many reasons, especially for the surrounding community. It serves as the primary recreation area for the northwest region of Fayetteville, offering residents a place to walk, bike, and enjoy nature close to home. The creek also acts as a natural stormwater and pollution filtration system, helping keep your neighborhood green, healthy, and resilient.
In addition, Clabber Creek is one of the few waterways in our city that is nearly protected along its entire length. This makes it a vital habitat and travel network for wildlife, enhancing local biodiversity and providing the community with the unique opportunity to enjoy nature in an urban setting.
This Saturday, March 21st is an invasive plant removal and litter pick up at Clabber Creek. We will be working from 10 am to noon. The forecast looks great and we will continue to monitor the weather as the week progresses. Please were work clothes, long sleeve shirts, and closed toe shoes.
