About this event
The Ozark Chinquapin Project at Bell Slough (off the Kenny Vernon Trail) is in need of protective upgrades.
This project was the first Ozark Chinquapin project undertaken by FAMN (managed by Fred Hendricks) and was conducted with the cooperation of the AGFC, OCF and Arkansas Forestry. Several trees in this group have grown enough in girth that they have filled the original tubes. We will be removing the original tubes, relocating rebar anchors and surrounding the trunks with a 2x4 wire fencing to discourage damage from the local wildlife. We will also do some vegetation maintenance around the trees.
Wear appropriate clothing, boots and gloves. Make sure to bring water as well.
We will meet at the trailhead parking lot of the Kenny Vernon Trail at 1:30 on Sunday, 24 May.
