Subject: Tonight's Board Meeting - Bringing 2025 to a close!
From: Miranda Kohout

A Happy Wednesday to you fellow NWAMNs!

This time of year is a conundrum. Everything in us is saying "Rest. Slow down. Hibernate." while the holiday season tends to be go-go-go. I seek balance by eating a lot of Christmas cookies and upping my tea consumption.

Tonight is our final NWAMN Board of Director's Meeting of the Year, and we'd love to see you there! You will find the agenda here: NWAMN_Dec_2025_BOD_Agenda. Please make sure you are logged in to view it.
If you cannot attend, the meetings are recorded. Let me know if you need help finding or accessing a meeting recording.

If you attended our November Chapter Meeting, you were treated to a lovely presentation from member Rita Littrell.
Rita is the powerhouse behind the Awe in Arkansas project which identifies children’s books that introduce valuable understanding about Arkansas’ natural world. She presented an expertly curated list of some of the best children's books on topics near and dear to MN's hearts.

Descriptions of the books she presented along with cover art and short descriptions are now available on our website!

To find them:
1. Log in.
2. Go to the Resources menu and select Blogs.
3. Find the Happenings Around NWAMN blog and click Read Blog.

There is a post for each book. Posts can be browsed via the menu on the left-hand side of the page.

These books (and many others!) are available for checkout by NWA Master Naturalists only. The books are housed at the Springdale Public Library. Inquire at the Circulation Desk and make sure you have your name badge. If you are still working on your holiday shopping, any of the books listed on the blog would make fantastic gifts and all are available from your favorite bookstore.

A quick personal note.

This is probably the last email I will be sending you! Starting in January, Pam Morgan will take over as President, and she is going to knock it out of the park.

I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of you and learning more about all of the incredible things our organization does. Thank you for putting up with my inability to keep dates straight and for my occasional rambling about things like caterpillars. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve such a wonderful group and look forward to continuing to support you all in the Past President role.

Thank you for everything you do for the environment and for each other.

May your 2026 be filled with wonders (caterpillars!), peace and community.
