Hello CAMN -
During the afternoon portion of our (fabulous!) most recent NiT training on Feb 21 (Fish and Field) with Dustin Lynch, we were climbing around on the creek banks of Fourche at Interstate Park, watching Katie Morris and Chance (another ANHC employee) demonstrate various seining techniques and temporarily capture an amazing variety of fish and other critters, We were surrounded by LOTS of litter -. not as bad as IN a trash boom at Benny Craig, but a lot of styrofoam, chip bags, cups, cans, water bottles - the usual mindless stuff.
Friends of Fourche cleans up out there the last Saturday every other month, which is fortunate, BUT it's not like the place couldn't use more attention! Rhonda Fiser is interested in helping clean it up and was wondering if there might be any of you who would like to put together a one-off trash pick up out there, or even an ongoing, regularly scheduled trash pick up, maybe on the months FOFC does NOT pick up. Better to have a group in lieu of one person.
Picking up trash in ANY LR or NLR City Park counts as volunteer hours. It isn't glamorous, but it's useful and needed. If you are interested in being involved, please let Rhonda know. She works full time, as do many of you, so it would need to be on a weekend.
Thanks for considering!
