Arkansas Master Naturalists

HomeJoin NEAMN

Welcome to NEAMN!

The Northeast Chapter serves the natural areas and state parks on Crowley's Ridge, the "Delta" to the east, and the alluvial plain to the west.  We serve eleven parks, a museum, and the Crowley's Ridge Nature Center.  Three of our parks are historical parks and one is an archaeological park.

The mission of the Northeast Arkansas Master Naturalists is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach, and service.  We are dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources, natural areas, archaeological assets, and historical sites.

The Northeast Arkansas Master Naturalist chapter has an open enrollment period for anyone who would like to complete the training and become a member of our chapter. Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year. Training will be conducted throughout the year.

The NEAMN chapter will enable individual members to become certified through a variety of methods. Instruction may take the form of classroom lectures and practical application of newly acquired skills or it may be completed through independent study. Consideration may also be given to prior education and employment experience.

The subject matter will focus on our natural world, archaeological assets, and historical sites. Training will include Arkansas animals, plants, geology, and conservation with emphasis on ecology, native plants and animals, geology, botany, meteorology, astronomy, public land use, interpretation, trail design and maintenance, history, insects, archaeology, aquatic systems, and stream quality evaluation and testing.
