HomePartner Org requests funding
Climbing by Christopher Mance

What are these donations?

NWAMN is striving to be more effective in keeping the Natural State natural by lending a helping hand to related work by other organizations. NWAMN will budget funds to strategically support the work of eligible organizations in the form of a donation or in direct support of a specific project. Your organization may be eligible.

What organizations are eligible for a donation?

Like Arkansas Master Naturalists, organizations must be dedicated to the benefit of our natural environment and resources. They must also be a non-profit organization with proof of current 501C3 status.

Who can submit a request?

Officers of a qualified organization may submit an application.

What will be the funded amount?

The amount of funding approved by the Board is determined on the merits of the organization and its application, the annual NWAMN budget allocation for external support requests, and the discretion of the NWAMN Board. Funding requests can be one-time donation requests or requests for ongoing support, but NWAMN reserves the right to determine the type and final amount of any disbursement.

What is the workflow for a funding request?

  • A representative of the organization submits the application to the President of NWAMN. Requests exceeding $1,500 must be accompanied by an organization chart and a high-level view of the organization’s operating budget for the fiscal year.
  • The application is reviewed by the Executive Committee.
  • If the application passes its initial review, the President sends it to the Board of Directors for review at the next monthly Board meeting.
  • At the meeting:
    • The Board discusses the application.
    • A brief presentation is required by an organizational representative for consideration by the Board.
    • Additional information may be requested by the Board.
    • The Board takes action on the application.  This may be a vote or the application may be tabled while waiting for further input.
  • Once a vote is held, the President informs the applicant of the Board's decision.
  • If approved:
    • The Treasurer arranges for disbursement of the funds. Amounts exceeding $2,500 generally will require quarterly review and disbursement.  The NWAMN board reserves the right to vote to forgo this requirement on any requests exceeding $2,500 when project goals are hindered by such constraints.
    • The President requests a follow-up article through the NWAMN Communications Chair to highlight the project and organization. Another article will be requested upon the completion of the funding/project that highlights the outcomes.
    • A Funding Outcome Report will be required from the organization by November 1 of the funding year.
In summary, the organization submits an application, then makes a presentation and answers questions.  If the request is funded, the organization collaborates on articles about the project and reports back on how the funds were spent.
