Star Party with Jeff Hoeper at Fred Berry CEC 9:00 pm
About this event
This month we will start with a scan of the night sky, tracing and discussing the constellations that are in view. This will be an activity for naked-eye observing and binocular observing.
After that, I'll do a deeper dive on Leo, Virgo, and Ursa Major. Spring is the season of galaxies, and we'll look at some of those galaxies with optical instruments. Karen Woods will be bringing her big binoculars-on-a-tripod. And I'll come armed with my 8" Dobsonian and with one of the library's 4.5" Starblast telescopes. So NCAMNers will finally get a chance to look through a range of instruments.
We'll probably finish the evening by looking at M13 (the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules) and the showy star system of Alcor and Mizar in Ursa Major.
