About this event
Speaker Read Admire from the Urban Food Group: The Urban Food Loop Project (UFL) is a Little Rock based 501c(3) non-profit Community Composting organization addressing the problems of food waste, carbon emissions, soil degradation & food insecurity with the solution of teaching communities how to make and use compost locally. Our mission is to transform local food systems by engaging stakeholders along the food supply chain and introducing small shifts in key areas of everyday practices and behaviors; we strive to make communities healthier, more sustainable, & more equitable by teaching people about closed food loop systems, providing community services that reduce carbon emissions in food supply chains, combat food insecurity, and restore our nation's degraded farmland soils by teaching farmers and consumers how to make and use compost locally. The Urban Food Loop Project’s core revenue generating offering is a weekly curbside composting program, which is embedded into the essential services of local residents, schools, and restaurants. For a monthly service fee, customers have their food scraps picked up once a week, alongside their trash and recycling bins.
