Forest Health Workshop for Educators

Arkansas’s forests face many threats that can impact forest health; ranging from natural phenomena such as drought to threats presented by invasive pests and pathogens. Good forest and tree management can reduce many of these threats. Register today for this interactive and educational two-part professional development workshop focusing on Arkansas’s common forest insect pests and diseases, invasive species, and management techniques to keep these threats under control.

Session 1 on July 14 will feature a virtual presentation by forest health specialists from the Southern Regional Extension Forestry Forest Health Program on how to identify insect pests and diseases commonly found in Arkansas and ways to manage these species.

Session 2 on July 27 will be conducted both in the classroom and in the forest. Participants will evaluate forest stand health, pest damaged trees, invasive species, and urban forestry issues. Registration is limited to 20 participants. Social distancing and State and CDC guidelines will be followed.

The $25 registration fee covers educational resources, workshop materials, curriculum, lunch, and transportation in the field. For more information, visit: http://www.arkforests.org/page/TCT
