Saturday, October 16, 9:00 a.m., Pullman Trailhead, 800 Pullman Avenue
Join the Diamond Lakes Chapter of the Arkansas Master Naturalists for a 3.5-mile hike from the Pullman Trailhead to Sanderson Lake. The hike will be approximately 3.5 miles round trip and will take 3-3.5 hours. It will begin on the Pullman Trail which is a 0.65-mile trail that connects hikers and mountain bikers from downtown Hot Springs to the Northwoods Trails through a section of Hot Springs National Park. PLEASE NOTE that the Pullman Trail passes near a historic homesite. Objects that may appear to be trash, such as bottles, tin cans, toys, and even a car, are archeological artifacts. They are protected by federal law and should be left in place. At the end of the Pullman Trail we will connect with the Dewdropper and Freeman Trails that will take us to the newly constructed bridge over the Sanderson Lake dam and a spectacular view. The hike is moderate to strenuous with an elevation change of 100 feet both going to the lake and returning. The trail is rough in places so please wear appropriate footwear. You will need to bring water and insect repellant.
