Presenter: Dr. Travis Marsico, Arkansas State University, Professor and Associate Chair, Curator Arkansas State University Herbarium (STAR)<br /><br />Title: A botanist’s meandering hike down memory lane: A flora in the Ouachitas, a Ouachita endemic plant, and the changing nature of herbarium data management<br /><br />Description: Travis Marsico, Professor of Botany at Arkansas State University, will share his experience when he was a master’s student (2001-2004) working on botany and ecology research in the Ouachita Mountains. His master’s work resulted in the collection of more than 5000 specimens, and these data were collected at a time when specimen and data sharing was not fully digital or standardized. There has been a great need to transcribe data from these specimens and Arkansas volunteers have made a huge positive impact.
