Join DLAMN’s Stream Team Coordinator, Terry Thomason, on the Caddo River to participate in monitoring water quality of the river. The Caddo River is one of two sites that DLAMN monitors through the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission’s Stream Team Program. The other site is the Middle Fork of the Saline River in the Middle Fork Barrens.
The Stream Team Program was designed to enable concerned citizens to become involved in stream and watershed conservation. Efforts revolve around three primary aspects of stream conservation: education, advocacy and stewardship.
Crazy on the Caddo will take place in Glenwood, AR. at 844 Vaughn Road. From Hot Springs take Hwy 70 west to Glenwood, cross the river and turn right past the First Baptist church onto Vaughn Road. Go approximately 2 miles and the house is on the right. DLAMN signs will be posted. Parking is preferred to be perpendicular to the driveway on the north side of the driveway.
Matthew Irvin, the AGFC stream team coordinator will be conducting the training outdoors using a covered area. Folks should bring a lawn chair, waders if they have them (we have two spare pairs), a hat, lunch, and drinks. We will have water available. Bathroom facilities are also available . Also, a wading staff/hiking stick and sunscreen are recommended . There is a mowed path to the river, that is about a three-hundred-yard walk. The site on the river is a large gravel bar with easy walk in access. There is plenty of shade available along the tree line.
Dress appropriate to wading in the river. Bring waders if you have them. A limit number of waders will be available. Bring water, snacks, and lunch. Also bring sunscreen and insect repellant.
