DLAMN - The Geology of Hot Springs National Park: Ensuring the Future of Our Thermal Waters

This program will provide an overview of the geology of the Ouachita Mountains with an emphasis on the Zigzag mountains, which include Hot Springs National Park.  We will explore how the unique geology is responsible for the existence of Hot Springs National Park’s famous thermal waters.  We will also discuss recent data on how human activities threaten the future of the thermal springs.  The presentation will be followed by a walking tour of rock exposures in the downtown Hot Springs area
