This outing will be a visit to the “Know Your Natives” Garden at Sid Vogelpohl’s property southeast of Paris, AR. Sid is a long-time member of the Arkansas Native Plant Society (ANPS) and author of the “Know Your Natives” articles; Sid has written hundreds of detailed write-ups describing native plants of Arkansas, nearly all of which are from his property.

Please wear good walking/hiking shoes and bring water.


Where?

Sid Vogelpohl’s Property south of Paris, AR (GPS Coordinates: 35.275276,-93.694530); physical address is: 2480 South Highway 309, Paris. It is a pretty good haul, but well worth the trip and a beautiful drive!


Directions from Conway are as follows:

Take I-40 west from Conway to Clarksville Exit 55, turn left at Hwy 109-South to Scranton; take right on Hwy 197 to Subiaco where it will terminate into Hwy 22.

Take a left at Hwy 22 and proceed approximately 0.1 mile and take a right on South Subiaco Ave (continue on this road and it will transition to Greasy Valley Road).

Greasy Valley Road will terminate at Hwy 309, take a right and proceed for about 1.1 miles and Sid’s place will be on the left (the number 2480 is on the mailbox post). Directly across the street from his driveway is a long brown 2-rail steel fence.

Carpool/caravan:

Meet at Robert Fuhler’s house 29 Ridgeview Drive, Conway (correctly located on Google Earth) between 1115 and 1130.

Please be on time; notify me (Robert Fuhler 501.733.4019) if you will be late; I hate to be a pooty-head, but the departure time of 1130 is concrete as we will be on a schedule.
