Join Angela Chandler, Assistant Director and Assistant State Geologist for the Arkansas Geological Survey, for a geology hike at Hell Creek Natural Area.
If a few of you are coming from the same area, please consider carpooling.
I suggest we all meet at the Mt. View Walmart parking lot near the auto dept. to carpool (if necessary) to the sight to reduce the number of cars needing to park along the road. (Also, there are bathrooms in it. There are no bathrooms on the hike.) Try to arrive ten minutes before 10:00 so we can organize.
We'll start from the trail head around 10:00 a.m., have lunch on the hike, and end around 2:00 p.m.
Wear comfortable clothes for the season and sturdy shoes such as boots or hiking shoes. We will be walking in a creek bed on rocks. Bring a lunch, snacks if needed, and water. There is cave we can walk in the entrance, so you may want to bring a flashlight. Bring a camera or phone for photos. Walking/hiking sticks might be a good idea.
If it rains, the hike will probably be cancelled so keep watch for an email from me.
This event is limited to 25.
