Objectives and Details:
Processing of Native Seed Heads from collection forays lead by our favorite Botanist, Larry Price. Focus will be on Beebalm (Monarda fistulosa) and transfer/processing of Coneflower (Echinacea spp) from drying screens. M. fistulosa needs to be trimmed to allow removal of the seeds/Echinacia will need to be shaken.
There will be snacks provided (feel free to contribute if you like) and the traditional tea break (a welcome relief when processing Monarda).
This is also a drop-in event so any members still in the workforce can hopefully pop over after work.
What to Bring:
Scissors or sharp pruning snips (to trim the tops of the Monarda seed heads)
What Can Be Learned:
Identification of various species of native seed heads.
Processing techniques for seed removal (specifically Monarda and Echinacea species)
