Where:
Meet at the parking lot of the Archey Fork Camping area at Bluffton Nature Preserve 35.644413,-92.522697 (cut and paste coordinates into search box in Google Maps/Earth)
Directions:
About 6.0 miles north of the Hwy 65/09 intersection in Clinton on Hwy 65, take County Road 79/Watergate Road (600 feet north and across from Botkinburg Foursquare Church – Correctly located on Google). Continue for 3.8 miles (keep right at both intersections) until it terminates at the parking lot by the Archey (continue pass Bluffton Cemetery).
Objectives and Details:
Visit to Native Plots to check progress of vegetation control measures and collection of various native species.
If time permits, a trail hike will be undertaken (which trail will be decided on-site).
What to Bring:
• Water
• Collection vessel of some sort (plastic milk container – we can set it up on-site)
• Small Plant Clippers
• Rudimentary First-Aid Kit/bug spray with DEET
• Appropriate clothing for the project and weather (gloves, hat)
• Boots (ankle support preferred) with a second set of socks
• Snacks (Protein Bars, Jerky, etc.)
• Walking stick if you choose
What Can Be Learned:
• Native Plant plot preparation.
• Identification of native and invasive plant species.
• New experiences on one of the several beautiful trails at Bluffton.
