Pop-Soon Event - Walk North Mountain along the Upper and Lower Dogwood Trail

Something’s going on! Multiple sunny days with temps in the 70’s in February???!!! It’s starting to feel like spring. There is only one thing to do in times such as these, PARTICIPATE!

When: Saturday, February 24, from 10:00 a.m. ‘til 1:00ish

Where: North Mountain, Hot Springs National Park. We will meet on Fountain Street (the street that runs along the side of the Arlington Hotel) near the entrance to the Grand Promenade between 9:45 and 10:00. We will leave promptly at 10:00 and shuttle to the North Mountain Lookout. From there we will take the Upper Dogwood Trail along the northside of the mountain to the Lower Dogwood Trail. We will walk the Lower Dogwood Trail along the west and the south sides of the mountain to the Floral Trail. From there it is only a short distance down to Fountain Street and then along Fountain Street sidewalk to our cars.

This is an easy to moderate downhill walk of 1.5 miles. The trail is relatively smooth and level. North Mountain is a beautiful mature section of woods. As we transition from the north exposure to the west and south exposure, we will notice a change in the composition of the forest. It really is one of the most enjoyable walks in HSNP.

What to bring: Clipboard with checklist, Trees of Arkansas book, hand lens, and water. Those that have not received those items, just PARTICIPATE and you shall receive.
